The school is situated in Steenwijk in the North East part of the Netherlands. It’s a small town in a rural area, with national natural parks. Our school has several kinds of departments and offers different types of education, from pupils with extra needs to pre-university education. We pay extra attention to foreign languages and to internationalization in our school’s curriculum. In this context we are an Elos school, Elos means Europe as a learning environment in schools.
The school is a member of Elos-The Netherlands.
The school participated in several Comenius-programs with other schools in Europe. In this connection there is a multilateral cooperation with exchanges with several partner schools. Each year RSG Tromp Meesters has two international weeks where our students and teachers have visitors from partner schools. Our partner schools in this program are situated in:
• Askim, Norway
• Murcia, Spain
• Padova, Italy
• Ptuj, Slovenia
• Rostock Germany
• St. Quentin, France
• Kinna, Sweden
The school has a focus on European and international orientated education (international focus in all subjects). Attending the school means for all students participating in international projects. Every year they arrange international weeks with visitors from 8 – 9 other European countries. They take part in a same type of week held in a foreign country.
The students become specialist in the areas of:
1) doing different presentations in a foreign language
2) working in international groups with different topics
3) using the European dimension in all thinking and work they do in school
The school has long experience in working international with projects orientated on science, art, health and languages. The school has a label of excellence stream (a learning pathway) in languages.
